We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost continually when the depression embeded in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many individuals would interrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies at house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. She recently separated from her hubby and is in the process of moving.
