We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd thought. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the home. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would disrupt me now, and say that most ladies at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other ladies. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her partner and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time.
