We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. I started to choose up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that most ladies at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't understand the half of all of it. I believe it's time I offered you a total image of our street and the people who live on it. It will come in useful later. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy cope with their two teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
