After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the depression set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the home. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat.
