We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies in the house do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
