We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, imposed on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost continually when the depression embeded in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of individuals would interrupt me now, and say that many women at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her hubby and remains in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a good time. I never ever spoke with him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
