Then in the 3rd week, a malaise started to sneak in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes nearly continually when the depression embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies in your home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her partner and is in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies.
