From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking almost continuously when the depression embeded in, I started to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would interrupt me now, and state that a lot of women at house do what I do, talk and stop with the other ladies. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her partner and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a great time.
