From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes nearly continually when the depression embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of individuals would interrupt me now, and state that a lot of women at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.
