With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of women at house do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
