We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that most females at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you do not understand the half of it all. I believe it's time I gave you a complete image of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will come in helpful later on. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her hubby and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke with them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never spoke with him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
