We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a reservation. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking almost continuously when the depression embeded in, I started to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and state that many ladies in your home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
