From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continuously when the depression set in, I began to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your home. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat.
