We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, enforced on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This implies that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the anxiety embeded in, I started to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past your house. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that many ladies at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't know the half of all of it. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her other half and remains in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers.
