We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second idea. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who walk past the home. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many individuals would disrupt me now, and say that most ladies at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other ladies. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
