All of us support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been much like you. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to finish with the day instead of what my neighbours would be up to. Then, I established a problem with my knee. A semi-serious problem. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could walk, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, which in turn stopped me from working. I joined the ranks of the long-lasting sick, continued to get my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little tasks that pile up done. Then in the 3rd week, a malaise started to creep in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, imposed on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses throughout the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that the majority of ladies at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
