After cigarette smoking nearly continuously when the depression set in, I began to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and state that the majority of females at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. She recently separated from her hubby and is in the procedure of moving.
