We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second idea. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past your home. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and state that many ladies at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you do not understand the half of everything. I believe it's time I provided you a complete image of our street and the people who survive on it. It will come in helpful later on. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy deal with their two teenage boys. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
