We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our home, imposed on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This suggests that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After cigarette smoking practically continuously when the anxiety embeded in, I started to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the home. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that most females at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other females. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy deal with their two teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. She recently separated from her partner and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time.
