All of us support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up up until September, I had actually been much like you. Triggering to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to finish with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. Then, I established a problem with my knee. A semi-serious problem. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could walk, run, and climb, however it did stop me from driving, which in turn stopped me from working. I joined the ranks of the long-lasting ill, continued to get my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The very first couple of weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little tasks that accumulate done. Then in the 3rd week, a malaise began to creep in. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, enforced on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. I started to choose up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past your house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and say that most ladies in the house do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of it all. I think it's time I gave you a total picture of our street and the people who survive on it. It will come in beneficial later on. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
