We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second idea. After smoking almost continuously when the anxiety embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
