We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd idea. After smoking cigarettes nearly continuously when the depression set in, I began to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and say that most females in your home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of it all. I believe it's time I provided you a complete picture of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in useful later on. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
