From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking almost constantly when the depression embeded in, I began to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other ladies. It's a extremely small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her hubby and is in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time.
