We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been just like you. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to make with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I developed a problem with my knee. A semi-serious problem. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could walk, run, and climb, however it did stop me from driving, which in turn stopped me from working. I joined the ranks of the long-lasting ill, continued to receive my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first few weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little tasks that pile up done. In the third week, a malaise began to sneak in. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. I began to select up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that the majority of females at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Then last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her other half and remains in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never ever spoke to him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
