We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. We have a no smoking policy in our home, enforced on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking nearly constantly when the anxiety embeded in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that most women at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not know the half of everything. I believe it's time I gave you a total picture of our street and individuals who live on it. It will be available in useful later on. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her husband and is in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke with them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City. I never ever spoke to him, despite the fact that what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
