I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the home. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and say that the majority of ladies at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other ladies. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her partner and remains in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time.
