This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking nearly constantly when the depression set in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that most females at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
