We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd thought. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could stroll, run, and climb, however it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working.

We have a no smoking policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This implies that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking nearly continuously when the anxiety embeded in, I began to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of females at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other females. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her partner and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke with them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never ever talked to him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
