We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our home, enforced on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This suggests that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes nearly continually when the anxiety embeded in, I started to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and say that the majority of females at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other females. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
