We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd thought. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of females at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not understand the half of it all. I believe it's time I offered you a total photo of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in useful in the future. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
