We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a 2nd thought. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and say that most women at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not understand the half of it all. I think it's time I offered you a total photo of our street and the people who survive on it. It will be available in useful later on. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
