All of us go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes throughout the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and state that most women in the house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of everything. I think it's time I offered you a complete picture of our street and the people who live on it. It will come in beneficial later. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
