After cigarette smoking practically constantly when the depression set in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of women at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other females. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all).
