I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking practically continually when the anxiety embeded in, I began to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of individuals would disrupt me now, and say that many females at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her husband and remains in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time.
