We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd thought. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. We have a no smoking policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This indicates that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continually when the anxiety set in, I began to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies at house do what I do, talk and stop with the other ladies. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
