We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically continuously when the anxiety set in, I began to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past your house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat.
