November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that many women in the house do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. It's a extremely small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. She recently separated from her hubby and is in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I spoke to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City. I never spoke with him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
