Then in the 3rd week, a malaise started to sneak in. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, implemented on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the anxiety embeded in, I started to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you do not understand the half of everything. I think it's time I gave you a total picture of our street and individuals who live on it. It will be available in useful later on. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her hubby and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I talked to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never spoke with him, even though what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I mention him.
