We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a reservation. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been much like you. Triggering to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. Then, I established a problem with my knee. A semi-serious issue. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could walk, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working. I joined the ranks of the long-lasting sick, continued to receive my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first few weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little jobs that accumulate done. Then in the 3rd week, a malaise began to sneak in. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, implemented on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would interrupt me now, and say that many ladies at house do what I do, talk and stop with the other ladies. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her spouse and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Naturally, whenever I talked to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City. I never ever spoke to him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
