We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a doubt. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up until September, I had actually been just like you. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our home, implemented on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking almost continuously when the depression embeded in, I began to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that most women in your home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you do not know the half of everything. I think it's time I provided you a complete picture of our street and individuals who live on it. It will come in useful in the future. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
