All of us go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little jobs that pile up done. In the third week, a malaise started to sneak in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our home, enforced on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that many ladies in the house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not understand the half of it all. I think it's time I offered you a total picture of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will come in beneficial in the future. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy deal with their 2 teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. She recently separated from her other half and is in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Naturally, whenever I spoke with them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never ever spoke with him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
