We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a 2nd thought. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of females at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not understand the half of all of it. I think it's time I offered you a total picture of our street and individuals who reside on it. It will come in helpful later on. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
