With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of females at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
