We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second idea. After smoking cigarettes almost continuously when the depression set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the home. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of individuals would interrupt me now, and state that many women at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other females. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
