With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and state that most women in the house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
