We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a doubt. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been much like you. We have a no smoking policy in our home, enforced on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking practically continuously when the depression embeded in, I started to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of individuals would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of women at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other females. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
