We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. After cigarette smoking nearly constantly when the anxiety embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past your house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and state that a lot of females in the house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't understand the half of all of it. I think it's time I offered you a total picture of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in helpful later. It's a extremely small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her spouse and is in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never spoke to him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
