All of us support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a doubt. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been just like you. The very first couple of weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little tasks that pile up done. In the third week, a malaise started to creep in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, imposed on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This suggests that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking practically continually when the depression embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many individuals would disrupt me now, and state that the majority of females at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other ladies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy deal with their two teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her spouse and remains in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I talked to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never talked to him, despite the fact that what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
