With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of females at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy deal with their 2 teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
