The very first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little jobs that accumulate done. In the 3rd week, a malaise started to creep in. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, imposed on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking practically continuously when the depression embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and state that the majority of women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her spouse and is in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time.
