All of us support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a reservation. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up up until September, I had actually been much like you. I joined the ranks of the long-lasting sick, continued to get my paycheque, and sat and took it simple. The first few weeks were great I. managed to get all the little tasks that accumulate done. Then in the third week, a despair started to creep in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our home, imposed on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This suggests that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking nearly continuously when the anxiety set in, I began to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that many women at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other females. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her hubby and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some beginners. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Naturally, whenever I talked to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never spoke with him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
