We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second idea. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of individuals who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and state that a lot of women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't understand the half of everything. I think it's time I gave you a total image of our street and the people who live on it. It will be available in beneficial in the future. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
