We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, implemented on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). After cigarette smoking nearly constantly when the depression embeded in, I started to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of individuals who stroll past your house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that most females in your home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her other half and is in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some beginners. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never spoke to him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
