All of us accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been just like you. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little tasks that accumulate done. In the third week, a malaise started to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continuously when the anxiety set in, I started to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't understand the half of everything. I think it's time I gave you a complete picture of our street and the people who live on it. It will come in useful later. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. She recently separated from her spouse and is in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City. I never spoke to him, although what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I mention him.
