We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little tasks that pile up done. Then in the 3rd week, a malaise started to sneak in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, imposed on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This indicates that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost continually when the depression set in, I started to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of women in the house do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't know the half of it all. I think it's time I gave you a complete image of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will come in helpful in the future. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy cope with their two teenage children. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her spouse and is in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never talked to him, despite the fact that what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
