With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most individuals would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other women.
