We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and say that many females in your home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't understand the half of all of it. I believe it's time I gave you a total picture of our street and the people who survive on it. It will come in helpful later. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy deal with their 2 teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
