I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our home, implemented on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). This suggests that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly constantly when the depression embeded in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and say that the majority of ladies in the house do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not understand the half of all of it. I believe it's time I provided you a total picture of our street and the people who survive on it. It will can be found in beneficial later on. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
